Looks beyond borders
“Entrepreneurs know no boundaries, the law does.” Attorney-at-law Sjoerd Tilman is changing that: he advises entrepreneurs at home and abroad. His focus? To serve his clients as much as possible. He works with enthusiasm for the Dutch corporate law practice and introduced the international practice within MannaertsAppels. To this end, he is constantly expanding his network and is ready to assist in Tangibles beyond national borders.
Looking forward
In whatever Location a Matter takes place, Sjoerd surveys the possible scenarios, tackling problems for the future. “It gives satisfaction to offer parties a creative solution that brings them closer together. Think of an M&A transaction, which allows you to conclude a transaction in the client’s interest that might otherwise not have taken place and where afterwards as little discussion as possible occurs. Or, for example, a relaunch in the event of Bankruptcy, so that jobs can be maintained.”
Clarifies gray areas in the practice of law so that everyone understands them and making trade-offs easier.
Speaks and writes English and French fluently and has a special focus on French-language practice, among other topics.
International strength
In addition to being an expert in Dutch corporate law, Sjoerd is the catalyst for the international practice at MannaertsAppels. “To provide guidance in foreign Tangibles, we built a unique network. We meet lawyers from all over the world at network organization Eurojuris International. Twice a year we meet to share knowledge and keep contacts warm. Precisely the personal character of the organization is its strength. We know each other well and refer Tangibles with confidence.”

Sjoerd Tilman is registered in the register of areas of law of the Netherlands Bar Association with the following main area of law: Insolvency law (Bankruptcy and suspension of payments). Pursuant to this registration, he is required to obtain ten training points in this registered main area of law each calendar year according to the standards of the Netherlands Bar Association.
